Before You Start
Below is a short video to show you how simple it is to use our Boba at Home Kit. This recipe makes 1 serving, however you can read our Tips sections to see the portions for a Whole Batch. We created two servings of tea and tapioca in this video so that we could show you how to make a Milk Tea and Fruit Tea.
The advantage of making your own boba in the comfort of your own home is that you can adjust the tea strength, sweetness level and firmness of your tapioca to your liking, here are a couple of tips for you Bobaristas!
Tips for Personal Preference
- Tea Strength: Add 1-2 minutes of steeping time if you’d like a stronger tea flavour.
- Alternative Milk: You can use your own preferred dairy-free milk alternative to a Milk Tea kit. To do this:
1) Cut the amount of water for steeping tea in half (eg. recipe calls for '1 cup', use '1/2 cup' instead).
2) Steep the tea for longer by adding 1-2 mins.
3) Add 1/2 cup of your preferred milk for your desired creaminess.
- Caffeine Free: Use hot water instead of tea, and save the tea for later.
- Making a Blended / Slush Drink: If you would like your drink blended like a slush. Use 3/4 cup of tea, add the simple syrup, powders / fruit puree, and 1 cup of ice into a blender, blend and serve with tapioca!
- Making a Hot Milk Tea: If you would like your milk tea served hot, we recommend using less sugar, and serving without ice.
- Making a Whole Batch: This recipe teaches you how to create 1 serving of boba, but you can multiply the portions for more servings, or make the entire batch at once using these same instructions. Measurements for making the tea and tapioca will change, you can refer to this chart:
Milk Tea | Fruit Tea | Tapioca |
16 Cups (4 Litres) of Water | 16 Cups (4 Litres) of Water | 8 Cups (2 Litres) of Water (for cooking Tapioca) |
